Foundation of support and development of Russian-German relations
Foundation of support and development of Russian-German relations, "Russian-German meeting center" is located in the heart of the city, in the German quarter on Nevsky Prospect 22-24 in the building of the German Lutheran Kirche Church and is the cultural and educational home for all generations - from 4 to 95 years old.
Since 1993, the Center is developing a several directions of activities, the essence of which is displayed in the title of the Fund. Cultural projects form the basis of the work plan. In the program, you can find information about lectures, seminars, exhibitions and concerts related to one subject – Germany-Russia’s joint history. Another direction of work - variety of forms of studing German language. This is communication courses, meetings with native German and also classes in language tandems. Projects are carried out both in St. Petersburg and in the German-speaking European countries.
New culturological activity after the Fund's participation in the Night of Museums 2013 has became an excursion activity. German quarter includes a variety of interesting objects that are not always well known to residents and guests of St. Petersburg. Tour of the German Quarter combines information about Petrischule, Kirche, permanent exhibition "German Petersburg", visiting of the Kirche’s catacombs, a chapel with frescoes made by Adam Schmidt, church hall, as well as traveling exhibitions of "200 Years of Strelna German colony", "250 years Manifesto of Catherine II »,« Leningrad Germans. Before and after the deportation". Tours are conducted in Russian, German or English.
